JESSICA BRASWELL NAMED 2018 NCEA COACH OF THE YEAR

WACO, Texas - The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced the 2018 Coach of the Year on Friday, May 11th. Jessica Braswell, Associate Head Coach from Auburn University is the recipient of this year’s award.

“I’m so proud of Jessica,” head coach Greg Williams said. “From a former athlete, graduate assistant, and now a coach, she is Auburn through and through. We are lucky to have her.”

The Auburn University Equestrian team completed the season as the NCEA Overall Team National Champions this year as well as gathering five additional national titles. Braswell led the Tigers to the Hunt Seat Discipline Championship and the Equitation Over Fences Event Championship. The Auburn Tigers also claimed the Western Discipline Championship and Horsemanship Event Championship, totalling five of seven possible titles. 

The Auburn Tigers entered the NCEA National Championship as a No. 2 seed, becoming the fourth team in the last five years to win the Championship as a non-No. 1 seed. The national title was the program’s fifth overall and second in the last three years.
