Auburn Upsets No. 1 Georgia to Win 2018 NCEA National Championship
Saturday, April 21, 2018

WACO, Texas - Auburn University won its fourth overall National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championship on Saturday, as the second-seeded Tigers upset No. 1 seed Georgia, 10-5, at the Extraco Events Center.

Auburn’s win on Saturday marks the fourth time in the last five years that the No. 1 team has not won the Overall National Championship. Last year, Texas A&M won the title as the No. 5 seed. In 2015, South Carolina won the championship as the No. 3 seed, and Georgia’s last title came in 2014 as the No. 3 seed.

Auburn jumped out to a 4-0 lead in equitation on the flat. The Tigers expanded their lead to 6-1 after winning horsemanship, 2-1.

A full recap of today’s Championship meet along with a recap of today’s event Championships will be posted later this evening.
