National Collegiate Equestrian Association October Standout Student-Athlete of the Month

The National Collegiate Equestrian Association has announced its October Standout Student-Athlete of the Month. Every month the NCEA recognizes student-athletes for their accomplishments in the ring, however the NCEA would like to highlight athletes on their outstanding performances out of the ring, including academics, philanthropy, outstanding attitude, and embodiment of an ideal teammate.

Name of Athlete: Emma Mandarino

School & Year: Georgia, Class of 2019

Hometown & Major: Bedminster, N.J.; Accounting major

Highlighted Accomplishments:

Emma is an exceptional student that constantly pushes herself for perfection.  Her accounting major is perfect for her because she loves to see the numbers match up to allow her to see that she has attained the right answer. 

  • Inducted into the University of Georgia Athletic Association Leadership Academy
  • Community Service hours include donating clothes to Hurricane Harvey relief, working at the clothing and food drives for hurricane relief, as well as “Shop With A Bulldog” where she’s raised money to be able to take a local Athens child shopping for Christmas.
  • Prior to the season, she was named team captain as a junior
  • Featured on “The Georgia Way” for her internship experience during the summer
  • 3-0 in the Equitation Over Fences for the season, earning her first career MOP honor against then-top-ranked Texas A&M
  • SEC Rider of the Month in Equitation Over Fences for October
  • 3.95 Cumulative GPA
