NCEA Riders of the Month (September 2017)

WACO, Texas — The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced its September Riders of the Month.

Texas A&M took home three honors with Avery Ellis grabbing the Shorty's Horsemanship Rider of the Month and Rebekah Chenelle snagging both EquiFit Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month and Equifit Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month. Fresno State's Paige Barton took home the Shorty's Reining Rider of the Month for September.

Equifit Equitation On The Flat Rider of the Month: Rebekah Chenelle - TAMU

  • Posted a perfect 3-0 record with a MOP in the lone conference meet of the month
  • Posted the team’s second-highest scores with two 93s
  • Led the Aggies Hunt Seat to a stellar 3-0 start to the season
  • Swept Hunt Seat MOP honors against No. 7 South Carolina

Equifit Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month: Rebekah Chenelle - TAMU

  • Powered the Aggie Fences team with a perfect 3-0 record and two MOPs
  • Swept Hunt Seat MOP honors against No. 7 South Carolina
  • Posted a team season-high of 88 against No. 7 South Carolina
  • Has already matched last year's MOP total in Fences
  • Led the Fences squad to a perfect 3-0 record to begin the season
  • Helped the Aggies sweep both No. 9 Fresno State and South Dakota State in Fences

Shorty's Horsemanship Rider of the Month: Avery Ellis - TAMU

  • Recorded a perfect 2-0 mark with an average score of 76.75
  • Defeated her opponents by an average score of 10.25
  • Scored a team-high 77, which marks the fifth time she has scored a 77 or higher in her career

Shorty's Reining Rider of the Month: Paige Barton, Fresno State

  • Posted a 3-0 record in Reining during the first month of the collegiate equestrian season.
  • Earned two MVP honors in three outings, including one against her opponent from No. 1 Texas A&M.
  • Averaged a score of 71.17 during the month of September and defeated opponents by an average margin of 3.3 points in her three competitions.
