WACO, Texas — The National Advisory Board (NAB) of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) today announced Bison Trailers, custom living quarter trailer manufacturer, and Great American Insurance, equine mortality and farm products, as the most recent sponsors dedicated to supporting the National Collegiate Equestrian Association in its mission to provide collegiate opportunities for female equestrian student-athletes and ultimately, ensure Women’s Equestrian becomes a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship sport.
“Having met with representatives from Great American Insurance and getting an opportunity to discuss the NCEA today and our vision for it tomorrow, it was quite evident that they quickly recognized the importance of the NCAA Collegiate format not just to those who participate in it, but to the broader sport of Equestrian as well,” said Tom O’Mara, National Advisory Board, NCEA.
The NAB continues to reach out to and foster partnerships with equine industry leaders such as Bison Trailers and Great American Insurance, to demonstrate the industry’s commitment to Women’s Equestrian. Sponsors contribute to NCEA programs’ future expansions, highlight the positive impact of equestrian programs, assist in growing leaders and enrich the lives of female equestrians.
“Great American Insurance Group, Equine and Agribusiness Divisions are proud to sponsor the NCEA. As the leading insurance carrier of Equine Mortality and Farm products, we recognize the importance of collegiate opportunities for female equestrian athletes in promoting excellence in academics and equestrian sport. Our best wishes go to all collegiate competitors and coaches,” said Ken Standlee, Divisional President, Equine Division.
With the NCAA’s support, the NCEA strives to ensure Women’s Equestrian programs remain part of the effort to maintain meaningful educational opportunities for women through athletic programs.
“The largest living quarter horse trailer company in the world, Bison Coach is very happy and proud to sponsor the NCEA. Bison would like to take this opportunity to recognize these tremendous female equestrian athletes plus coaches. Like all competition at the division 1 level, Bison understands the commitment and hard work it takes. Good luck and best wishes for the coming year!” said Rod Lung, General Manager for Bison Coach.
“I personally have worked closely with Bison trailers and believe that this sponsorship will be beneficial for both parties. We are pleased to have Bison Trailers as one of our newest sponsors for the NCEA,” concluded John Hull, National Advisory Board, NCEA.
More than 800 women currently participate on NCAA equestrian teams across the nation, a number that is growing each year. The NAB’s and NCEA’s outreach and advancement have renewed the focus for colleges to add Women’s Equestrian teams.

About Bison Trailers
Since 1984 Bison Coach located in Milford, Indiana has been a leading manufacturer of horse trailers. In 2003 the decision was made to add the Living Quarter conversion process to the Bison operation. The company and the product then became a "One Stop Shop" operation where all aspects of the manufacturing process were completed at the same facility. Today, Bison Coach is the nation’s largest manufacturer of horse trailers with living quarters, offering both steel and aluminum framed construction. Offering 7 product lines and the many configurations and options available offer the most diverse line of living quarter horse trailers.
Bison Coach products are distributed and serviced by a National Dealer Network that stretches from coast to coast, with a full offering of horse trailers including living quarters in various sizes and models. While other horse trailer manufacturers may construct the “box” of their unit, most have to ship their trailer, often states away, to have a separate company construct and install the living quarters. The extra mileage and contracted work on these trailers results in tens of thousands of extra cost to consumers. In addition, that method of building horse trailers results in different warranty plans for different areas of the coach.
