COWGIRLS AND GAMECOCKS JUMP IN FINAL POLL AS GEORGIA REMAINS TOP 'DAWG

With the 2012 NCEA National Championships set to begin next Thursday in Waco, Texas, Georgia maintains its position as the No. 1 team in the country.

Oklahoma State moves up from fourth to second in this week’s poll, as the Cowgirls have won eight in a row, including the Big 12 Championship over the weekend.

South Carolina jumps three spots to the No. 3 ranking as the Gamecocks defeated No. 3 Auburn and No. 1 Georgia over the weekend to win their first Southern Equestrian Championship. The Gamecocks are 9-5 and have won six meets in a row.

Texas A&M falls from second to fourth, and Auburn falls from third to fifth. Baylor, which had been ranked fifth, falls to sixth after going 0-2 at the Big 12 Championship.

Kansas State moves up one spot to No. 7 this week, as the Wildcats defeated the Bears, 10-6, to place third at the Big 12 Championships. New Mexico State falls from seventh to eight.

Southern Methodist holds steady at No. 9, and Fresno State also maintains its No. 10 ranking.

The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s umbrella initiated the national poll.

The poll is released bi-monthly with this week’s poll being the final one of the 2011-2012 season. The National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s National Championships will be held April 12-14 in Waco, Texas.
